well i totally agree with you i have 2 girls and we want to try for a boy, like you said another girl would love her no matter what but a boy would be nice something diff in the family. well yes the shettles method i have heard can work if you do it right but go to this website babyzone.com this is the onei am using and look it over very well, it tells you about the method and diff positions you can try, things you can eat, exercises etc to try to get girl, men have the gene which decides what the baby will be so actually its all on him lol. for example for a boy they say to eat fiber foods like meat, celery, bananas and for girls they say to eat foods like leafy greens, vegies, salads, now this is for the man to eat. also not to be graphic but a deeper if for boys and and a lesser is for girls, if that makes sense its all in the web site under preconception and go to the one you want under that heading. good luck and i am trying for a boy lol. good luck.
