Is this guy ignoring me or what?

So there's this (shy) football player, who's a junior and we are buddies in my AP cl, who always comes into cl with a straight face and then when he sees me smiling at him(a friendly smile) his face illuminates(metaphorically speaking) and smiles back. He is a very sweet and kind gentleman, and if I haven't spoken to him at all in that cl hour, he usually starts a small conversation like "what cl do you have next," or "are you in theater,"or "how are you?" I think he is the nicest kid I've met in this school year, and it's very rare to find those types of people. He always finds a way to look at me in cl like sometimes he turns his head to look at the clock and then he turns his head around a little to look at me for like a second and a half and then turns all the way around and does his work. lol It's cute.And a few weeks ago, I was walking with my friend to the computer cl and he was next to me. He asked me if I worked anywhere and what I do there. I told him I work at a Pizza place and I asked him if he worked,but he said no, because he's in football and cannot work until December. We talked all the way to the class. But after a few weeks, he stopped talking to me and only smiles, he reduced his verbal communication to only "Hi's" and most of the time waves. But I have to admit, I don't always talk to him either, I normally talk to my table friends in class and so does he. Is he ignoring me on purpose?What does this mean?
