Is Elfen Lied scary or just gory?

It is gory, but it is totally worth it. One of my favorite animes ever. And I am so not one to like gory stuff. Slasher movies and such, eeehhh... Not my thing. But seriously... this anime is amazing. The plot line and character development...Plus it's drawn very well. If you don't want to see the animated gore actually happen, I would suggest trying out the manga. You can read it for free on onemanga.com.... it really is worth it! :]
