My labtop got black screen wtf!!!!!!!?

ok so i had a tornado where i live in a small town trees down, power outages. houses gone.so anyway my computer was plugged in when the outtage happen. i guess is consider a improper shut off. now when my computers on the screen goes black, but the pc is on. now im force to use safe mode because its the only thing that works on my pc with networking. how can i get my computer to get run normally without the screen going black ?
