Why is mitosis DNA replication essiential to life?

many cells in our body need to divide and if we dont perform DNA replication when a cell divides into 2 only 1 will have DNA or each will have half the DNA and this would lead to many problems. By having DNA replication during mitosis, both daughter cells (the two resulting cells) have all the DNA required to make proteins, etc.
