Is tha true the majority of people who are christians are Anglicans in England?

The English Church is Anglican but closer to catholicism or protestantism? do they have images? I have seen pictures of beautiful churches in UK.. but I don't know what denomination are they? because those churches once were catholic but the reform in England converted to them to anglicanism.. I thought an anglican church would look like a catholic church in the sense I will see statues and saints... because their priests look like catholics.. also the scottish church which is the Presbyterian and I don't know the religion of wales and Northern Ireland are they anglicans or other denominations? I know anglicanism is broad, high and low.. what is the main in UK?
